Ling is a Malaysian musician, keyboardist and piano educator. She balances teaching, performing and family life, and keeps making her own work in the post-rock scene.
Like many independent artists, her path has often felt lonely. Malaysia is full of passionate creators who work in isolation, without labels, managers or support. Ling calls them “lone warriors.” Creating quietly. Learning alone. Trying to keep going.
What kept her going was other people: friends who understood the journey, and the reminder that artists everywhere face the same struggles. “Knowing there are artists around the world facing the same struggles reminds me that I’m not alone.”
On 8 October she told that story at Jao Tim, between songs, to a room that came to listen properly.
